Coach Mike Griffin talks about the PRO5 approach to mentoring and preparing players for the next level of their baseball careers
The foundation to Success on and off the field is Character. Conversations about character and leadership are integrated into everything we do at PR05 Academy.
Our athletes meet for weekly Leadership Development sessions using our Championship Principles as a curriculum. Each month players participate in service projects such as the Miracle League, NC Food Bank, and Disaster Relief Projects. Also, PRO5 host a Career Development month each offseason featuring guest speakers from USA Baseball, Duke Physiotherapy, Durham Bulls AAA, and more.
Our staff and academic advisors provide guidance and supervision to make sure PRO5 athletes reach their potential in the classroom.
While most of our players do aspire to play baseball professionally, we believe that a solid academic foundation is crucial to their success on and off the field. Our Academic Advisor, Ray Stott, has more than 30 years of experience in Education, serving as a teacher, athletics director, and principal. He has a deep understanding of NCAA eligibility rules, and a strong desire to help our student-athletes succeed.
It’s no secret that strength and physical fitness play a huge role in the quality of your game. PRO5 Academy partners with DiamondFit Performance to ensure that our players are in the best physical condition to achieve their goals.
Our programming takes a systematic approach to strength development by providing specific key performance indicators that allow for objective analysis of our players’ progress. The framework of our program ensures that they will be challenged in a safe and effective manner, intentionally peaking players at specific points during their athletic season cycle.
We believe that the better our competition is today, the more prepared our players will be to succeed in college and/or professional baseball. We compete against junior colleges and other top academy teams, frequently traveling out of state to play in college and minor league stadiums. We also attend tournaments that allow us to face elite level talent from across the Southeast.
